10 questions every bride, should ask their wedding photographer.
I break down the 10most important questions I get asked by brides.
1. DO YOU HAVE MY DATE AVAILABLE?
This question should be the first question you ask a photographer. Upon submission, that is the first thing I’ll check to make sure we can move forward. If the answer to this is no, that doesn’t mean I’m unavailable for engagement photos!
2. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SHOOTING WEDDINGS?
Although natural talent is key, the type of skill and expertise that comes with experience cannot be faked. I’ve been shooting professionally & full time for 6 years! This will give you a general idea of the level of experience I have to gauge whether or not we will be an appropriate fit.
3. HAVE YOU SHOT WEDDINGS THAT WERE SIMILAR TO MINE?
Each couple is unique, and therefore each wedding is unique. However, if you have a certain style you like, we can talk to make sure which approach will be the best for your wedding. My photo editing is non-traditional, filmic, and artful, but I can aim to capture your vision!
4. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?
Photography is a vast field and there are many different types of photography styles. Wedding photography in particular has developed into a more photo journalistic style, however I love to set aside time during the wedding day to capture a stylized photo shoot between you and your partner. I’m not a fan of posing, so just really show you love your partner and let me do the rest of the work. If posing is something you are not comfortable with, we’ll really be the perfect fit. I love an artful, filmic, and trendy look to my photos, but also defined and colorful. If you give me some sample images of what you like, I’m sure I could replicate it.
5. WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE? DO YOU SHOOT WITH DIGITAL, FILM OR BOTH?
Even if you’re not totally familiar with all of the technical jargon, you should be aware that I use the most professional-quality equipment and have spares in case something happens to my primary rig. I use the Sony Alpha 7 line up with 4 sets of lens. I also shoot tons of film and you can add it on to your wedding day!
6. DO YOU HAVE A LIST OF REFERENCES?
I can certainly provide a list upon asking. I don’t mind you taking the time to contact a few of the references on the list and ask them what they really thought of the my work, photo quality, personality and deliverable’s received. This is your chance to really make sure that I am the best person that you want to work with!
7. HOW MANY PICTURES WILL YOU TAKE, AND WHEN WILL I RECEIVE THEM? WILL THEY BE NEGATIVES, USB OR ONLINE ONLY?
Since I use digital, you can expect anywhere from 600-1000 photos in a wedding gallery. All my photos are shot in the highest resolution and you will get nothing but high resolution images delivered. I provide a link for a beautiful online gallery that the images can be downloaded from as well as prints to order. I tend to give out coupon codes the day of delivery for the couple and close family to get a discount off of prints.
8. WILL YOU RETOUCH PHOTOS? IF SO, HOW MANY?
With all of the image-retouching software that exists, I do offer included retouching services. However, this is a very time-consuming process and in the end it may not be worth the extra wait time. If I notice something during the editing process, I tend to remove it. I wouldn’t worry too much about this.
9. DO YOU HAVE LIABILITY INSURANCE?
Liability insurance protects me from things like equipment theft and liability if someone else is injured due to my equipment. For example, if a guest trips over a camera bag or tripod and hurts themselves, liability insurance will protect me from getting sued! This is something I do carry and should be a must for any photographer that you will hire. If you have questions about this, please click here to reach out!
10. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND WHAT EXACTLY IS INCLUDED? WHAT ABOUT OVERTIME?
Wedding photographers offer many different types of packages to suit you and your partner’s needs. Mine is broken down into 4 different package. I’ll make sure we’re on the same page when it comes to what exactly is included and how much it will cost. I don’t charge overtime. All my weddings are all day coverage and NO travel fees.
